Low back pain can be caused by multiple factors. The culprit doctors almost always say is bulging disc or pinched nerve along the spine. What if the examination does not show any bulging disc or pinched nerve but you still feel immense pain? Because the doctor did not see anything wrong with you, he/she just gives you a prescription. If that doesn't work, he/she gives you a stronger prescription. Does this sound familiar? I have clients come to me with this problem and found out that although there's nothing wrong with their discs or nerves but everything going wrong with the muscles around the spine, around the pelvis, hips and thigh. Muscle imbalance can create havoc in the low back with muscles on one side being tighter than the opposite side. This can be due to repetitive muscle use, poor habitual body positioning or poor body mechanics. Advanced massage techniques, range of motion exercises and active assisted stretching will do the trick. No need for prescriptions, steroids or surgery. You wouldn't use a mallet on a small nail would you?
